Job Description


 The Digital Field Engineer will work in the field and directly within the Digital Signage technical group to ensure the Digital Display Systems function on an optimal level. The Digital Field Engineer will be involved in all Digital projects within Chicago, and will assist with projects for other markets within the United States. Digital Field Engineer should be an experienced technician that is knowledgeable of a variety of A/V systems.   

 

Reports to: Technical Manager

Interacts with: Digital Network Operations Center, Operations Management, IT department, JCD Corporate (Digital + IT) experts and the Sales staff

 

List of responsibilities:

  • Leads the Audio/Visual and Communication technical aspects of a deployment of large format LCD displays on Chicago Street Furniture.
  • Leads the technical upkeep and maintenance of the existing Chicago Digital billboard network by coordinating with the billboard service contractor and JCD digital network operations.
  • Leads technical system builds of digital display systems and digital kiosks.
  • Communicate network status and outages to the Management and Sales teams at JCDecaux
  • Perform maintenance efforts alone, or able to lead a team of technicians to address an issue with a current digital system, or install new digital systems.
  • Identify, develop and document maintenance procedures for all digital systems and digital formats.
  • Work within our existing Broadsign content management system and the various control tools to ensure digital display systems are functioning optimally.
  • Work with the Network Operations Center to ensure all digital systems are performing optimally, and that any system downtime is minimized. 
  • Occasionally be involved in new installations and upgrades that take place during the night shift (10PM to 5AM)
  • Communicate network status and outages to the Management and Sales teams at JCDecaux

 

Work Shift: Weekdays 8PM to 5PM (Some night work will be required)

  • Able to work on a ladder.  

Requirements


  • Education: 2-year Technical School/Trade or Technical Four Year Degree
  • Field support and maintenance experience
  • Audio Visual systems installation a plus
  • Able to troubleshoot and remedy issues with complex video distribution systems
  • Strong familiarity with operating system optimization (Windows, Linux)
  • Experience with communication of issue status and remediation steps
  • Network Operations Center experience. Ability to remotely troubleshoot Digital A/V systems.
  • Exposure to new digital technologies and media (interactivity of all types; gestural, touch, facial recognition, etc.)
