From September 21-28 in New York City, the world’s largest climate gathering outside of the UN’s Conference of Parties (COP) will spark conversation and collaboration between global leaders in politics, industry, advocacy and investment to accelerate climate action. This year’s theme of “Power On” calls on these leaders and everyday citizens to stay informed, ambitious, and to advocate for progress in all climate-related sectors.
Beyond our own commitment to global environmental sustainability in our day-to-day operations, JCDecaux is an official media sponsor of Climate Week NYC for the sixth consecutive year. As such, we’re proud to amplify the Climate Group’s message of global climate engagement across the city via our network of street furniture advertising.
Targeting Industry and Policy Leaders
With nearly 1,000 in-person events across the city, JCDecaux bus shelters and newsstands are perfectly positioned to engage key corporate leaders and changemakers at eye level where they work, live and spend their time – not to mention as they make their way to and from official Climate Week NYC events. Out of Home advertising like our New York City network successfully cuts through the noise of oversaturated online spaces by offering a physical, real-life platform that maintains a reputation of delivering credible, honest messaging.
Broadcast Climate Ethos and Action
Consumer brands and non-profits leverage JCDecaux OOH to drive mass awareness of their key climate and environmental initiatives. For brands outside of the climate-realm like Ikea, outdoor ads with opportunities for repeat exposure like our bus shelters are ideal for delivering diversified messaging that address core issues like the environment that are increasingly important to everyday consumers.
Similarly, non-profits like the National Audubon Society and the World Wildlife Fund whose core missions focus on environmental protection continue investing in OOH to gain traction and stand out among a growing number of important causes. These ads achieve critical awareness and successfully drive viewer engagement through clear calls-to-action like going online to learn more information.
JCDecaux Global Sustainability Commitment
Our climate support extends far beyond our support of Climate Week NYC. Currently in North America, we are committed to recycling 100% of our metal materials, paper posters, and moss airport banners. We've also been investing in eco-friendly maintenance vehicles which will make up half our fleet by 2030, not to mention over 850 solar-powered bus shelters across the country with another 100 on the way. And globally, we've committed to reducing our global greenhouse gas emissions (scopes 1,2) by 60% by 2030, with 90% reduction by 2050.
